Optimal Calling Hours for Successful Sales Calls
|I have been in telemarketing sales for over 15 years. There are four categories to be taken in to consideration for optimum calling times to acquire best results in reaching decision makers. |
1. Industry Type
3. Day of Week
4. Time of Day
First. Industry Type – Retail stores are busiest from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. and then from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Shop owners are more likely to be at the business first thing in the morning and during the lunch hours. Schedule call backs with retail stores for first thing in the morning to catch the owner in. Schools should be called before 3:00 p.m. Be mindful of the industry for access to decision makers.
Second. Profession – Professions should be considered in cold calling time schedules. Some professional types come in early and leave early. Some examples of this include IT Directors, Facility contacts and engineers. These professions have an early start to their day and need to be contacted first thing in the morning.
Third. Day of Week – Mondays can be the least favorite day for cold calling because many companies have Monday meetings and people are handing work that came in over the weekend or emergencies. Businesses seem to be more receptive Tuesday through Thursdays simply because it’s mid-week. Fridays can be unpredictable with many upper managements taking off early to start their weekend.
Last. Time of Day – The best time to reach a contact can be from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The morning time is good because the day is just beginning and the contact may be answering emails sitting at their desk. The afternoon time can be good since the day is winding down and the decision maker could be finishing their day and at their desk.
Cold calling is important and an important part of for successful cultivation of leads. Consider each category when scheduling your successful calling plan for optimum results.
