With summer now upon us, I am receiving quite a few questions regarding telemarketing campaigns during the summer months. The best advice is for you to know your industry and what works best for you. Here are a few of the scenarios with our clients:

Many companies begin telemarketing campaigns in the summer, so that they can test new programs and roll those out in the Fall with strong impressive results.

Other companies continue telemarketing campaigns over the summer to ensure that they have full sales pipeline year round.

Some begin telemarketing campaigns in the summer since their target market and industry work year round.

I can’t definitively provide the answer for you and your business. After all, you know your industry, offerings, and company in much greater detail. But I can honestly tell you that we have many new telemarketing campaigns under way and plan to incorporate strong telemarketing techniques all summer long.

If you would like to talk about your situation and how telemarketing can impact your business, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.

How do telemarketing efforts affect your sales stages and your sales pipeline? The first sales stage generally begins with a potential customer that has expressed interest in your offering (also referred to a sales lead). A telemarketing company will provide appointment setting, cold calling, and telemarketing services to generate sales leads for your company. In most cases, those leads are also considered to be qualified leads – since several basic questions have been asked to qualify the leads.

Telemarketing ensures that you have new leads entering into your sales pipeline. If you have a proper system in place, a percentage of those leads will progress through your sales stages. Overtime, those leads will convert to sales and thus new revenue for your business.

Telemarketing is one method to ensure that you have a steady flow of qualified sales leads and ensure that the beginning phases of your sales pipeline are full. After all, the sales process generally begins with an interested and qualified business prospect.

Wow! I just love receiving telemarketing calls. I would guess that I am clearly in the minority; but for me, it is always an opportunity to study their sales style and learn something. Last Friday, I received a call for “the owner”. The telemarketer and I bantered back and forth as I tried to learn who I was talking to and as she tried to reach “the owner” without revealing too much. Finally, I grew frustrated when she did not provide concise answers to my questions and blurted out “we are not interested”.

At that point, she completely caught me off guard, by asking if my name was Melissa. I replied yes. Then she wanted to confirm that I was the owner of the company. The tone of this particular call might have been different if she would have asked to speak with me by name rather than asking for the owner (which is so impersonal).

I would guess that she had not read an article in our eBook titled “Utilizing Contact Information”. The telemarketer failed to use the information that she evidently had at her fingertips and lost the opportunity to persuade me to talk further.

So as you are making sales calls, always use the information you have to your advantage. Ask for contacts by their first name – rather than by their title.

Wow! Guess it is time for Rich Enterprises, Inc. to join the blogging world. Seems like it can really be a struggle to keep up with the latest technology and new ways of marketing.

However, the old ways of marketing are still effective and alive. Telemarketing and cold calling is a tried and true method for bringing in new qualified leads and/or appointments. We have been at this for over 8 years and just when we think we have marketing covered, along comes a better way to communicate and keep in touch with our market base.

Remember, a mix of the new marketing and the old marketing is the best way to make your business succeed. Marketing and sales is not about jumping on every bandwagon of new marketing techniques, but rather making strategic logical decisions that are good for you and your business. It is easy to get lost in the sea of available technology and marketing methods, but we need to take small steps each and every day towards the end goal – which is business success!

I would love to hear your comments and feedback!
